GE Healthcare reported growth in both revenue and operating profit for the first quarter (end-March 31) thanks to higher sales volume and improved cost productivity.
For the period, the business reported sales of $4.291 billion, up 2.6% from sales of $4.183 billion in the corresponding quarter of 2016. The division's operating profit was $643 million, up 1.9% from segment profit of $631 million in the same period the year before.
GE Healthcare reported strong growth in orders, which reached $4.5 billion. The division saw organic order growth of 28% in China, 16% in the Middle East, 14% in Latin America, 5% in Europe, and 2% in the U.S.
