The American College of Radiology (ACR) is urging its members to weigh in against scope-of-practice bills in Wisconsin and Kentucky that would give healthcare professionals like nurses additional responsibilities.

Wisconsin's Senate Bill 394 has passed both the House and Senate in that state and will be sent to the governor. It would expand scope of practice for nurses.

"If you are a member of the American College of Radiology practicing in Wisconsin, contact Governor Evers today and ask him to veto SB 394," the ACR said.

In Kentucky, House Bill 354 would eliminate a requirement for advanced-practice registered nurses to collaborate with physicians to prescribe schedule II through V controlled substances and the one-year practice requirement before an advanced practice registered nurse is able to prescribe these substances, according to the ACR. This bill has passed in the Kentucky House of Representatives and is now being considered in the Senate.

"ACR members practicing in Kentucky are encouraged to reach out to your respective state senator and urge them to vote no on HB 354," the ACR urged.
