Digital histopathology firm Histolix has secured $3.2 million in funding from the National Cancer Institute (NCI) to further develop its Giga Fluorescence Imitating Brightfield Imaging offering.
The University of California, Davis startup said this latest grant brings the total funding awarded to it by the NCI and the National Institute of Health over the past 12 months to $9 million.
The team's focus is on rapid digital histologic imaging of freshly excised breast lumpectomies. The group said that its work aims to allow pathologists to provide intraoperative guidance to breast surgeons.
