Interventional technology developer Cook Medical has introduced a new fully retractable 0.35-inch embolization coil at this week's annual Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR) meeting in New Orleans.
Targeted for peripheral arterial and venous embolization procedures, the Retracta detachable embolization coil is based on the construction of Cook's Nester coils and uses platinum technology to allow soft packing of the coil, according to Cook. Physicians can confirm placement accuracy under fluoroscopy and/or by using a contrast medium.
