Mark your calendars for RADExpo 2011; is meaningful use driving RIS sales?

Dear AuntMinnie Member,

We're pleased to announce our next virtual conference: RADExpo 2011, a two-day event November 2-3 that features some of the most prominent thought leaders in radiology, speaking on topics that directly affect your radiology practice.

The focus of RADExpo 2011 is minimizing risk while maximizing reward, with every conference presentation designed to give you the tools and information you need to navigate today's challenging healthcare environment.

Day 1 of the meeting focuses on radiology practice management topics, from future trends in radiology compensation to dealing with the radiation dose controversy. Day 2 focuses on imaging informatics, including radiation dose reporting, advanced visualization, medical displays, and data security.

As with our previous virtual conferences, all presentations will take place in a unique virtual environment that enables you to interact with colleagues and speakers in real-time. You can even win prizes for participating.

But you need to register now to reserve a (virtual) seat at the conference. Just go to radexpo.auntminnie.com to get started, and mark your calendars for November 2-3.

Is meaningful use driving RIS sales?

In other news, are radiology practices looking at acquiring new RIS technology to comply with the U.S. government's healthcare IT stimulus program?

That's the intriguing hypothesis of a new market research report from healthcare technology research and advisory firm CapSite that we're featuring in our Healthcare IT Digital Community.

The report analyzes the installed base of RIS networks in the U.S., finding that a large proportion are using software that's more than 6 years old -- and therefore ripe for replacement. These sites may look to capitalize on federal funding for meaningful use in the coming years.

But they probably won't be buying the same kinds of RIS software that the radiology industry has become accustomed to. Find out what most sites are looking for by clicking here, or visit the community at healthcareit.auntminnie.com.
