A case brought by a Kansas radiologist against his former radiology group will be going to trial, according to an article in the Kansas City Business Journal.
Dr. Mark Idstrom worked with Alliance Radiology from 2005 until 2012. He filed a lawsuit in 2012 claiming that Alliance Radiology's business practices violate state antitrust laws, the Journal reported.
Although Alliance Radiology said there's no truth and no legal ground to Idstrom's claims, Johnson County Judge Gerald Elliott denied Alliance's motion for a summary judgment and decided that the case will go to trial.
Alliance was established in 2000 from a merger between four radiology groups in Kansas City, according to the Journal. Idstrom's attorneys claim that each of the four groups continued to act independently, which eliminated competition and drove up prices.
Alliance attorneys have disagreed, saying that the litigation is a case of a suit brought by a disgruntled former employee.
If a jury determines that Alliance Radiology violated state antitrust laws, that decision would invalidate its business model and lead to its dissolution, the Journal reported.
