Dr. James Thrall from Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) has been named a member of the U.S. Institute of Medicine (IOM).
Thrall was one of 65 new members named to the IOM at the institute's annual meeting this week. The IOM is both an honorific membership organization and an advisory organization, and the new additions bring the institute's total membership to 1,870. Members commit to volunteering their services on IOM committees, boards, and other activities, according to the IOM.
Thrall is the Juan M. Taveras professor of radiology at Harvard Medical School, as well as radiologist in chief at MGH. He is also president of the American College of Radiology (ACR) and former chair of the ACR's Board of Chancellors.
