Medical imaging advocacy groups and patients who have benefited from diagnostic imaging will be on Capitol Hill on September 20 to protest proposed reimbursement cuts for medical imaging services.
Participants will include the Access to Medical Imaging Coalition (AMIC), the Colon Cancer Alliance, Colontown, the Lung Cancer Alliance, and the Medical Imaging and Technology Alliance (MITA). They will submit a letter to congressional policymakers urging them to reject proposals to reduce medical imaging reimbursement and services, and also to reject proposals to implement preauthorization programs for medical imaging.
A press conference is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. EDT in the Cannon Office Building. AMIC intends to announce new data from MITA on trends in medical imaging utilization and spending in Medicare, as well as discuss the decline in imaging utilization over the past two years.
The press conference will also be made available via audio conference.
