SIR presents new executive council

The Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR) has named a new president and executive council for 2013-2014.

Dr. Scott Goodwin, an interventional radiologist and chair of the department of radiological sciences at the University of California, Irvine, has begun his term as SIR president.

The society's 2014 officers also include:

  • President-elect: Dr. James B. Spies of Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington, D.C.
  • Secretary: Dr. Alan H. Matsumoto of the University of Virginia Health System in Charlottesville
  • Treasurer: Dr. Charles E. Ray Jr., PhD, of the University of Colorado in Denver
  • Immediate past president: Dr. Marshall E. Hicks of the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center

Executive Council councilors include:

  • Dr. George A. Fueredi of Great Lakes Radiologists in Lake Geneva, WI (health policy and economics)
  • Dr. John A. Kaufman of Dotter Interventional Institute in Portland, OR (SIR Foundation chair)
  • Dr. Daniel B. Brown of Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia (annual scientific meeting)
  • Dr. Daniel Siragusa of Shands Jacksonville in Jacksonville, FL (graduate medical education)
  • Dr. Brian Funaki of the University of Chicago (postgraduate medical education)
  • Dr. Matthew S. Johnson of Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis (member services)
