The Harvey L. Neiman Health Policy Institute has released a free resource that allows radiologists to determine whether they would have been designated a patient-facing healthcare provider by the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) from 2012 through 2014.
The Radiologist Patient Facing Dataset (RPFD) was developed using Medicare's Physician and Other Supplier Public Use File, which contains data on all Medicare fee-for-service procedures performed and is aggregated by current procedural terminology (CPT) code and by individual physicians. Whether a physician is patient-facing affects how he or she participates in CMS' Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS).
"Using this and other Neiman Institute online data tools, radiologists can prepare and succeed in CMS' evolving payment models," said Danny Hughes, PhD, senior director for health policy research, in a statement released by the institute.
