The American College of Radiology (ACR) has released a revised version of its appropriateness criteria.
The latest edition covers 233 unique subjects, including 61 for radiation oncology and 176 for diagnostic imaging and interventional radiology, the ACR said. It includes one new topic -- lower extremity arterial revascularization, post-therapy imaging -- and nine revised ones:
- Chronic ankle pain
- First-trimester vaginal bleeding
- Headache in children
- Orbits, vision, and visual loss
- Pretreatment staging of muscle invasive bladder cancer
- Post-treatment follow-up of prostate cancer
- Traumatic shoulder pain
- Soft-tissue masses
- Radiologic management of uterine leiomyomas
The guidelines are developed by expert panels of radiologists and other physicians from relevant medical specialties, according to the ACR.
