Bennett Landman, PhD, of Vanderbilt University will become the new editor in chief of the Journal of Medical Imaging (JMI), effective January 1, 2024. He succeeds Maryellen Giger, PhD, who has been in the role since 2014.
Bennett Landman, PhD.The JMI is part of SPIE's publication family of journals. Landman, who was inducted as a fellow of SPIE in 2022, also served as co-chair of the SPIE Medical Imaging Image Processing Conference from 2017 to 2021.
His research at Vanderbilt focuses on applying image-processing technologies to leverage large-scale imaging studies for better understanding individual anatomy and personalized medicine, according to the society.
Landman received his doctoral degree in biomedical engineering from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 2008 and served as a faculty member of Vanderbilt's electrical engineering and computer science department from 2010 to 2021. In 2021, he joined and became the first chair of the university's newly formed electrical and computer engineering department.
