The American Society of Radiologic Technologists has launched a new section of its Web site designed to help patients understand diagnostic imaging procedures. Called Patients and the Public, the section provides step-by-step descriptions of 16 common radiological procedures, written in easy-to-understand language, according to the Albuquerque-based society.
Patients can visit the site to learn what to expect before, during and after each examination. Information is also available about radiation safety, the technicians who perform the studies, and the differences among various imaging procedures.
