The American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) said that the Consistency, Accuracy, Responsibility, and Excellence in Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy (CARE) bill was introduced in the U.S. Senate on Tuesday by Sen. Mike Enzi (R-WY) and Sen. Tom Harkin (D-IA).
The bill, S 3338, would ensure that basic minimum education and certification standards are established as part of the Medicare program for all medical imaging and radiation therapy personnel, according to ASRT.
The House version of the CARE bill, HR 2104, was introduced by Rep. Ed Whitfield (R-KY) in June 2011 and now has more than 125 bipartisan co-sponsors, ASRT said.
