Kan. Senate candidate lands in more hot water

A Kansas radiologist running for the U.S. Senate has run afoul of the state's medical licensing board, which has launched an investigation into charges that he improperly posted gruesome photos of gunshot victims to a social media site.

According to an article in the Topeka-Capital Journal, Dr. Milton Wolf is being investigated by the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts in connection with posts Wolf made to a Facebook page in 2010 that contained "gruesome x-rays with unflattering remarks." Wolf apologized for making the posts after they were revealed in an article in the newspaper in February 2014.

Wolf is running against Sen. Pat Roberts (R-KS) in the Republican primary election scheduled for August 5. A distant cousin of President Barack Obama, Wolf identifies with the tea party wing of the Republican party and has been critical of the president's healthcare reform law.

In its July 22 article, the newspaper revealed that it has been contacted by the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts, which asked for information on Wolf's behavior, as well as copies of the images he had commented on. The newspaper did not publish the images in its original story due to their graphic nature.

Wolf's posts have become an issue in the campaign as Roberts seeks to show that Wolf isn't prepared for the Senate, according to the article. Wolf's representatives blasted back, calling the charges "politically motivated" and stating that Wolf never violated patient privacy.

The newspaper said it is considering the state's request for access to the medical images.
