A trial has commenced in a case brought by a radiologist against his former radiology group, according to a report published by Kansas City, MO, radio station KCUR.
Plaintiff Dr. Mark Idstrom alleges that his former practice, Alliance Radiology, terminated him without cause in 2012. He also claims that its exclusive contracts with area hospitals have prevented him from obtaining work since then, KCUR said.
Idstrom brought his suit against Alliance in 2012 under Kansas' antitrust statute, the Kansas Restraint of Trade Act, claiming that the company and members of its board conspired to violate antitrust laws.
The trial began on May 4 and is being held in Johnson County District Court in Olathe, KS, under Judge Robert Wonnell. It is expected to continue through May 22. Idstrom is seeking unspecified compensatory and punitive damages, KCUR reported.
