Allstate Insurance has sued two imaging centers in New York, charging that the centers billed Allstate for more than $1 million in fraudulent charges, according to an article on LegalNewsLine.com.

Several Allstate subsidiary companies have filed lawsuits against Rockville Centre Diagnostic Imaging and Diagnostic Imaging of Rockville Centre on Long Island. The lawsuit charges that the centers are run by nonphysicians and submitted to Allstate "hundreds of fraudulent and/or noncompensable charges for diagnostic radiology services." The lawsuit was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York.

Allstate charges that its companies made $1.3 million in no-fault benefits payments to the centers. The company is seeking a jury trial.

Allstate in the past has aggressively pursued claims against imaging providers that it believes have submitted reimbursement claims for services that are unnecessary or fraudulent.
