Kentucky suspends Radiology Group CEO's license

The Kentucky Board of Medical Licensure has suspended the license of Anand P. Lalaji, MD, CEO of The Radiology Group, saying that the teleradiologist overlooked several imaging findings.

The ruling stems from a complaint submitted in November 2023 alleging that Lalaji violated the board's statutes governing the practice of medicine in the state. Mercy Health Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, Kentucky, alleged that Lalaji missed readings or made incorrect readings in eight instances over a three-month span in 2022.

Lalaji did not attend administrative hearings despite receiving a subpoena, resulting in the default ruling. He can no longer practice in the state of Kentucky as long as his license is revoked.

This continues to be a difficult year for The Radiology Group. In March, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York announced a $3.1 million False Claims Act settlement with the company. It stated that the company and Lalaji admitted failure to ensure that U.S.-based radiologists conducted a "meaningful and adequate" review of draft reports prepared by contractors in India before sending findings to healthcare providers.
