The RSNA filed notices of a data security breach with the attorneys general of Massachusetts and Vermont on August 28.
The incident involved an unauthorized party gaining access to the RSNA's network. After a forensic investigation and manual document review, on July 26 the RSNA discovered that between June 20 and June 26, certain impacted files containing personal information may have been accessed and/or acquired by an unauthorized individual, the notifications stated.
The RSNA said it had no evidence that any of the information has been used for identity theft or financial fraud as a result of the incident; however, those who may have been affected have been notified and RSNA has offered identity theft protection services.
