The RSNA named new officers and appointed new members to its board of directors at its annual meeting in Chicago.
Dr. Richard Ehman, was named president of the board of directors. He is a radiology professor and the Blanche R. & Richard J. Erlanger Professor of Medical Research at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, and he previously served as secretary-treasurer.
As president, he will work to emphasize RSNA's commitment to foster continuous innovation in patient-focused radiology, according to the association.
Dr. Vijay M. Rao was named president-elect. She is a specialist in head and neck imaging and is the David C. Levin Professor and Chair of Radiology at Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. She previously served as chair of the board of directors.
As president-elect of the RSNA, Rao will support RSNA's commitment to initiatives that deliver high-quality educational materials to the radiology community by using digital technology, according to the organization.
Also added to the board were Dr. Valerie Jackson and Dr. Curtis Langlotz, PhD.
Jackson is the executive director of the American Board of Radiology (ABR), a position she has held since 2014. She previously served as the RSNA board's liaison for education and on ABR's board of trustees from 2001 to 2010. She is the Eugene C. Klatte Professor Emeritus and has had numerous academic appointments at Indiana University School of Medicine over the years.
Langlotz is an imaging informatics leader and committed advocate for improved radiology reports, according to the RSNA. He is a professor of radiology and biomedical informatics and an associate chair for information systems in the department of radiology at Stanford University.
Langlotz joins the RSNA board as the liaison for information technology and the annual meeting, a position that was previously held by Dr. Matthew Mauro. Dr. Mauro will now assume the role of liaison for education.
