Diaphragmatic Rupture:
The patient shown below presented following a motor vehicle accident. The CXR demonstrated abnormal opacification over the lower left hemithorax which was very suggestive of a diaphragmatic injury.
CT imaging confirmed the presence of a diaphragmatic tear. The diaphragm was discontinuous, the stomach and bowel loops can be identified in the thoracic cavity, and there was also a dependent visera sign.
