Dear Orthopedic Imaging Insider,
For me, becoming the editor of the Orthopedic Imaging Digital Community means treading on familiar territory. Before joining AuntMinnie.com, I received a crash course in medical writing at a magazine devoted to biomechanics and body movement. It was there that I learned the correct usage of prosthesis versus prosthetic, the difference between supination and pronation, and where my ACL is in relation to my PCL.
Speaking of which, the knee is the focus of our Insider Exclusive. Recent MRI studies have taken a closer look at anterior cruciate ligament injuries and associated injuries, meniscal extrusions in particular. Click here to learn more.
You can also check out an article on x-ray's role in detecting articular cartilage degeneration. According to researchers from Wisconsin, certain radiographic signs are more indicative of osteoarthritis than others. To find out what those signs are, click here.
Other noteworthy articles in this Insider installment:
- How bone marrow lesions affect knee joint cartilage loss as seen on MRI
- The value of an experimental CAD scheme for bone scintigraphy analysis
- Ultrasonic curettage to shave bone at a lower temperature
- The accuracy of 3D CT in planning total knee arthroplasty
- Digital x-ray's lack of reliability for evaluating bone healing
Feel free to drop me a line at [email protected] and help me get a leg up on the latest in musculoskeletal imaging (or at least supply me with better puns).
