Meta Imaging nets 510(k) for breast system

Meta Imaging Solutions of Columbia, MO, has received 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for its Chrysalis breast displacement system.

Chrysalis is made of soft, padded vinyl and is designed to decrease breast radiation dose during CT coronary angiography and CT of the abdomen. The breasts are physically displaced from the imaging plane and secured with the Chrysalis device.

The company cited a randomized trial that showed median dose reductions of 88% in the periareolar region and 95% in the upper quadrants, while achieving enhanced image quality in patients with large breasts.
