SCCT launches case-based cardiac CT training course

The Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography (SCCT) has launched a new on-demand course to help cardiac imagers, cardiology trainees, and radiology residents work toward Level 2 competency in cardiac CT.

SCCT Advanced Cardiac CT On-Demand Training Toward Level 2 consists of 15 modules of 15 cases each, for a total of 225 coronary, structural, and congenital heart disease cases. Learners read the cases on cloud-based workstations through TeraRecon’s Intuition platform. Each module opens with a faculty lecture. Learners then review a clinical scenario, mark disease on an interactive vessel diagram, and answer multiple-choice questions, followed by an expert summary comparing their responses with the faculty’s.

Edward Nicol, MD, is course director and Maros Ferencik, MD, PhD, is contributing course director. The first cohort started on November 2 and has 12 weeks to finish, with more cohorts in development, according to SCCT. The society said the course aims to expand access to hands-on cardiac CT education in areas where training is limited by location or cost.
