Interventional technology developer AngioDynamics of Queensbury, NY, has appointed a new vice president to manage sales of its international irreversible electroporation (IRE) technology, the company said.
Agustin Gago will fill the newly created position. He previously served at E-Z-EM of Lake Success, NY, as vice president of the company's global GI business unit, as well as vice president of international sales at AngioDynamics.
IRE is a surgical resection technique in which electrical fields are used to create nanoscale defects in a cell's membrane, which causes cell death only in the targeted tissue, without destroying critical structures such as ducts, blood vessels, and nerves, AngioDynamics said. The company acquired exclusive license to the technology in April 2008, when it acquired the company Oncobionic.
