Molecular imaging product family to be showcased in Chicago
Philips Medical Systems will be exhibiting its suite of molecular imaging products and applications, including its Gemini PET/CT, SkyLight and Forte gamma camera systems, and the latest iteration of its Syntegra image fusion and review software.
The Bothell, WA-based Philips’ Gemini PET/CT is comprised of its Allegro PET with gadolinium oxyorthosilicate (GSO)-based detectors and the option of either dual-slice or 16-slice CT options. The product comes with multimodality DICOM connectivity and radiation oncology simulation options, Philips said.
Also being shown in the PET family is Mosaic, a new small-bore animal imaging system, which is making its RSNA debut. Both the Mosaic and Gemini systems are available now.
The firm’s SkyLight and Forte gamma camera systems will be on display this year. The SkyLight is a gantry-free camera platform with a Sun Microsystems Java-based acquisition system. Because the detectors are not attached to a gantry, each detector can be angulated independently for imaging of two patients at the same time, Philips said.
The Forte system will be shown with JetStream acquisition capabilities. The dual-head, variable angle product features 16 overlapping energy windows for general purpose SPECT and planar imaging, according to the vendor. The product will be available in the U.S. in December, and worldwide in January 2004.
The latest iteration of Syntegra, 2.0, features automated multimodality image registration algorithms, and supports seamless integration between radiology and radiation oncology, Philips said. The application is available on Philips’ PET and PET/CT scanners as well as its radiation therapy simulation and planning systems.
