Biophan joins forces with Boston Scientific

Making medical devices that are more compatible with MRI technology is the goal of a new alliance announced today between interventional device firm Boston Scientific of Natick, MA, and Biophan Technologies of Rochester, NY.

The companies will collaborate on resolving the problems caused by magnetic objects in MRI scanners. Biophan has developed a coating technology that the company believes can reduce artifacts caused by metallic objects, and has applied its technology to implantable devices like pacemakers and cardioverter-defibrillators.
