Hitachi Healthcare Americas plans to launch a new medical imaging innovation center this year at its North American headquarters in Twinsburg, OH.
The Hitachi Healthcare Innovation Center of Excellence will serve as a dedicated research and development facility, leveraging artificial intelligence and machine learning to develop new imaging technology, according to the vendor. Hitachi expects to add approximately 40 new jobs for the new center, on top of the nearly 200 already employed at the headquarters facility.
The center will be the only healthcare R&D facility outside of Japan for Hitachi Healthcare Americas. The company noted that its upcoming acquisition by Fujifilm later this year is not expected to affect its presence in northeast Ohio.
The new center was encouraged and supported by healthcare industry nonprofit accelerator BioEnterprise, nonprofit JobsOhio, and nonprofit economic development organization Team NEO, Hitachi said. JobsOhio provided Hitachi with a R&D grant, which will be used to implement new prototyping equipment, software platforms, and facility upgrades, according to the firm.
