Philips adds color flow to Live 3D Echo

Philips Medical Systems has released the Performance 2004 upgrade for its Sonos 7500 echocardiography system. The upgrade is highlighted by the addition of color capabilities to Philips' Live 3D Echo imaging technology, according to the Andover, MA-based vendor.

With the enhancement, physicians will be able to observe blood flow dynamics in three dimensions and gain improved diagnostic insight into valvular function and hemodynamics, Philips said. In other Performance 2004 enhancements, clinicians will be able to perform arbitrary cropping of Live 3D Echo images. Advanced 2-D imaging capabilities include the firm's Live xPlane imaging mode, which displays two views of the heart simultaneously.
