Ultrasonix

Ultrasonix will feature new software for its Ultrasonix 500 small-footprint ultrasound system, first shown at the 2002 RSNA meeting.

This year Ultrasonix introduces release 3.2 of its ES500 software. Building on the firm's proprietary programmable ultrasound engine, release 3.2 incorporates new image and signal-processing features that generate crisper ultrasound images, according to the vendor based in Burnaby, British Columbia.

These methods have been implemented on all supported transducers, including the newly integrated high-frequency linear, convex, and biplane transrectal transducers. New techniques such as 3-D imaging, panoramic imaging, simultaneous B/Color mode and others are also available. Release 3.2 includes a cardiac imaging package, with support for phased-array transducers.

Software release 3.2 is available to current ES500 users via direct Internet download or CD-ROM software update. In addition to these software improvements, the ES500 system enclosure has been enhanced to provide better mobility, ergonomics and ease of use, Ultrasonix said.
