Hitachi to release ultrasound upgrade

Hitachi Medical Systems America will be releasing an upgrade for users of its Hi Vision 8500 premium ultrasound scanners.

The version 2.0 enhancement package will provide a range of imaging and operational improvements, according to the Twinsburg, OH, company. They include a one-touch optimization feature and a new digital zoom feature with increased resolution and a selectable sector size for maximizing frame rates. The upgrade will also include a DVD+RW storage option.

Hitachi said that customers covered under a warranty or service contract will receive the upgrade free of charge.
