Compact-ultrasound technology developer SonoSite and interventional device firm Boston Scientific have signed a multiyear agreement. Under the deal, Boston Scientific's oncology division will serve as the exclusive distributor of the Bothell, WA-based vendor's iLook ultrasound systems for certain U.S. vascular access and interventional markets.
Boston Scientific of Natick, MA, will distribute iLook 15 and iLook 25, which are used in the guidance of medical procedures such as the placement of intravenous catheters, ports, and other long-dwelling implants for interventional radiology, nephrology, oncology, and general/vascular surgery applications, according to the firms.
The companies expect Boston Scientific will begin distribution later in the third quarter, following the transfer of sub-distribution rights pursuant to SonoSite's contracts with hospital purchasing organizations. The agreement runs through 2008, with an option for renewal.
