Philips Medical Systems has added iE33 to its echocardiography product line. The premium system features fully integrated 2D and 3D cardiac quantification software for measurements such as left ventricle (LV) volume and ejection fraction, according to the Andover, MA-based vendor.
Three-dimensional measurements of the heart can be generated in less than a minute, Philips said. The company said it has also incorporated 2D image quality enhancements, its Live 3D imaging technique, ergonomic improvements, voice-activated controls, and automated image optimization technologies.
The system's QLAB quantification software employs three-dimensional border detection to provide rapid access to ventricular volumes of the whole heart and waveforms that simultaneously show the function of 17 different heart segments, according to the firm.
Transducers for iE33 include S5-1 with the vendor's PureWave crystal technology. PureWave utilizes a new class of piezoelectric material that Philips says allows greater transmit frequency than conventional transducers. Philips has also included its xMatrix transducer technology in the new X3-1 probe, which provides real-time 3D volumes and displays simultaneous views of the heart from the same heartbeat.
