Global compact ultrasound market at $565 million

Global revenues for compact ultrasound systems in 2007 grew by 42% to reach $565 million, according to a new report from Klein Biomedical Consultants of New York City.

In other report findings, Klein said that GE Healthcare of Chalfont St. Giles, U.K., is tops in the worldwide market with revenues increasing 50% to $250 million in 2007. Klein also projects the market leaders in 2010 will be SonoSite of Bothell, WA, and Zonare Medical Systems of Mountain View, CA, which advanced revenues by 22% and 60%, respectively, last year.

The three leading compact ultrasound companies alone accounted for more than 85% of global revenues.
