Strong gains in international revenue helped propel compact-ultrasound technology developer SonoSite to a 23% increase in first-quarter revenue for 2008.
For the period (end-March 31), the Bothell, WA-based firm had revenues of $52.5 million, compared with $42.8 million in 2007. SonoSite had net income of $1.2 million during the first quarter, compared with a net loss of $563,000 last year.
In other quarterly highlights, international revenue grew 32%, while U.S. revenue was up 12%. SonoSite said that U.S. hospital revenue climbed 16% and office revenue increased by 33%. The company's overall U.S. growth rate was offset by an expected 17% decline in U.S. enterprise revenue.
