Australian handheld ultrasound developer Signostics has launched the second generation of its handheld ultrasound technology, and has signed a distribution deal with Konica Minolta Medical & Graphic for the product.
Signos RT, the latest iteration of the company's technology, builds on the first-generation Signos device by giving users the ability to view ultrasound images in real-time, according to the firm. Signos RT generates conventional real-time B-mode sector images, as well as M-mode and pulsed-wave Doppler images, as opposed to the static B-mode images found on the original Signos system.
Signos RT can also be connected to a Windows-compatible PC, laptop, or tablet running the company's software via the display unit or the probe running directly on its own.
On the corporate side, Konica Minolta Medical & Graphic has agreed to sell Signostics systems exclusively in Japan, the U.S., China, and India, under its own branding and with the product name Sonimage P3 in both the human and veterinary markets.
Signos RT is already being sold in Australia and Europe, with U.S. availability for clinical use pending 510(k) clearance from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
