Vital Images posts strong Q1

Three-dimensional-software developer Vital Images reported revenue for its fiscal 2003 first quarter of $6.8 million, up 53% from $4.4 million reported in the same period last year. The Plymouth, MN-based company reported net income of $654,000 for the quarter (end-March 31), compared with a net loss of $247,000 in the first quarter of 2002.

The firm anticipates 35%-45% growth in its core revenue components of software license fees and maintenance and services for 2003, and net income of $2.5 million to $2.9 million for the year, according to Vital Images president and CEO Jay Miller.
