Abbott Labs launches endovascular unit

Interventional device developer Abbott Laboratories of Abbott Park, IL, launched a new business unit dedicated to endovascular devices at this week’s International Symposium on Endovascular Therapy (ISET) meeting in Miami.

The endovascular technologies unit will be a subsidiary of Abbott Vascular Devices, and is based in Redwood City, CA. Abbott Vascular Devices also includes coronary technologies and vessel closure technologies units.

The endovascular division’s first products include the Xceed Nitinol self-expanding biliary stent, the Xpert self-expanding biliary stent, the Fox PTA catheter, and the Prostar XL suture-mediated closure device. The products all have FDA 510(k) clearances.
