GE Healthcare posts mixed Q3 results

GE Healthcare had what parent company General Electric of Fairfield, CT, described as a "challenging" third quarter (end-September 30).

Revenues for the Chalfont St. Giles, U.K.-based company increased 3% to $4.19 billion, compared with $4.06 billion in the third quarter of 2007. Profit, however, declined 8% to $634 million, down from $692 million in the previous year’s third quarter.

For the nine-month period, revenues gained 5% to $12.56 billion, compared with $12 billion in the same period last year. Profit slipped 6% to $1.9 billion, compared with $2.02 billion in the same period a year ago.
