Inominant Artery (Anomalous):

Clinical:

The right inominate artery (in a patient with a left arch) arises more distally than usual- typically to the left of the trachea. As the vessel courses to the right, it may create an anterior tracheal indentation and occasionally these patients may be symptomatic. This anomaly is noted somewhat more frequently in children with underlying congenital heart disease. Treatment consists of surgical reposition of the vessel for symptomatic patients.
