IDT launches dental CT scanner

IDT Dental Products has launched its i-CAT in-practice CT scanner in the U.K. and Irish markets. The conebeam CT scanning system is manufactured by Imaging Sciences International of Hatfield, PA, according to IDT.

The compact system provides dentists and maxillofacial specialists with 3D patient views in the office, along with treatment planning, implant positioning, and low-dose imaging procedures, London-based IDT said.

The system's flat-panel image detector enables i-CAT to capture 3D images very quickly, typically within 20 seconds, according to the firm. The system also provides fast 3D digital reconstructions of the patient's mouth, face, and jaw areas, which can be viewed on a computer screen or printed out in full color, according to IDT. The system costs about $181,00 (U.S.), IDT said.
