This Danvers, MA, company will make its RSNA debut with a new mobile, wireless multislice CT scanner designed to target the emerging use of CT for stroke assessment, trauma, and other neurological applications.

CereTom is built on a highly portable platform that enables it to be wheeled throughout the healthcare enterprise, and even to a patient's bedside if necessary. Images can be sent to a wireless laptop computer that serves as the system's console.

The system is available in configurations up to eight slices, with a 25-cm field-of-view for head and neck scanning. It weighs about 700 lb, and includes image analysis techniques such as CT perfusion, multiplanar reconstruction (MPR), and 3D maximum intensity projection (MIP).

CereTom received Food and Drug Administration 510(k) clearance in July. U.S. shipments will begin in December, with availability in the rest of the world in June 2006. The system will carry a list price of $279,900.

NeuroLogica believes that the system's low price could make it attractive for facilities that would like to site a CT scanner in their emergency rooms for stroke and trauma applications, but would like a more economical alternative to a whole-body system.
