GE Healthcare said it has completed its 500th installation of its LightSpeed VCT 64-slice CT system.
The Chalfont St. Giles, U.K.-based vendor reported that the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center will receive the 500th shipment of the product.
GE Healthcare said it has also installed its first LightSpeed VCT for dedicated use in pediatric applications.
Children's Hospital and Health System in San Diego will be using a LightSpeed VCT to perform clinical research on children with heart defects. A clinical study will compare the impact of VCT scans versus cardiac catheterization in infants born with a single ventricle in the heart, according to the vendor.
