New Carestream DR detector to be used for NFL combine

Carestream Health said that the NFL will be employing its digital radiography (DR) technology at the 2016 NFL scouting combine.

Carestream's DRX Plus 3543 wireless x-ray detector will be utilized with the existing x-ray system at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, as well as for additional tests conducted at Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital, also in Indianapolis, Carestream said.

In related developments, Carestream said it's developing a new 3D extremity imaging system to help clinicians and orthopedic specialists detect athletic injuries. The work-in-progress device, OnSight 3D Extremity, uses conebeam CT technology (CBCT) and is part of ongoing trials and research studies conducted by UBMD Orthopedics and Sports Medicine and Erie County Medical Center, both in Buffalo, NY, the company said.
