Shimadzu launches MX7 mobile DR unit

Shimadzu Medical Systems USA has launched MX7, the newest member of its MobileDaRt Evolution line of mobile digital radiography (DR) systems.

MX7 includes new software functions, a built-in large display monitor, and an integrated power management function called Smart Secure that allows users to pick the optimal system setup for their clinical needs. Smart Secure uses the mobile unit's battery more effectively by minimizing unnecessary power consumption, enabling the system to start up in one minute after initialization.

MX7 features a 17-inch monitor for better resolution while providing higher visibility and touchpanel operability. Other new features include storage spaces for small items and grooves in console sidewalls for installing sterile bags over the flat-panel detector. Users can still position MX7 with an "all-free" button found on other MobileDaRt Evolution systems, and the system still has the ability to display images two seconds after exposure and its ultraquiet motor drive.

Finally, a new flat-panel detector that is lighter and more water resistant is available in a variety of sizes and sensitivity levels, according to the company.
