Isotope Products Laboratories of Valencia, CA, has signed an agreement with Scanwell Systems of Montreal to sell that company's NeuroShield device for shielding the brain from radiation during whole-body PET studies.
NeuroShield consists of a U-shaped lead plate that attaches to the PET scanner's removable headrest. NeuroShield can attenuate some 75% of the radiation emitted from the subject's body during brain studies, thus improving the quality of PET and PET/CT images by reducing random and scattered counts, according to the companies.
