VisualSonics launches photoacoustics system

Microultrasound technology developer VisualSonics has launched a new photoacoustics imaging system, the SonoSite subsidiary said.

The company's Vevo LAZR photoacoustics imaging system combines the sensitivity of optical imaging with the resolution and depth penetration of high-frequency ultrasound, allowing researchers to study cancer in its earliest stages of progression and detect and evaluate tumor growth, according to VisualSonics.

At the core of Vevo LAZR technology are the VisualSonics' LZ Series integrated fiber-optic linear-array transducers with microbeamforming technology, the company said.
