GE Healthcare has received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) clearance for its Brivo NM615 single-head nuclear medicine gamma camera.
Designed to serve as a cost-effective option for routine scanning, the SPECT system can also be upgraded onsite to a Discovery NM630 or a Discovery NM/CT 670 SPECT/CT hybrid system through onsite hardware changes, according to the vendor. When paired with GE's Xeleris 3 processing and review workstation, Brivo NM615 allows doctors to reduce injected patient dose by as much as 50% compared to standard nuclear medicine scanning protocols, and it can also yield shorter acquisition times, GE said.
Brivo NM615 features a 28-inch (70-cm) bore and a table capable of handling patients up to 500 lb, GE said. The vendor has also included its Evolution technology and Elite NXT detectors in the system.
