Positron gets FDA nod for coronary software

PET vendor Positron said that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has cleared a software application for coronary flow reserve (CFR) quantification developed by the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth).

Called cfrQuant, the university licensed the software to Positron, which will distribute and support the application to its current and future U.S.-based cardiac PET customers. The software was developed under the guidance of Dr. Lance Gould and the Weatherhead PET Imaging Center of the UTHealth Medical School. Positron contributed software segments.

The software has been approved for use with rubidium-82 chloride and nitrogen-13 ammonia, Positron said.
