PerkinElmer is partnering with molecular imaging developer Sofie Biosciences to develop and sell preclinical PET/x-ray and 3D CT imaging systems.
The benchtop PET imaging systems will provide biological assays for application data in fields such as oncology, immunology, neurobiology, cardiology, and pharmacology, according to the companies. The systems complement PerkinElmer's current portfolio of preclinical offerings, which include IVIS optical imaging systems (available with integrated x-ray or CT), Quantum microCT systems, and a line of imaging reagents and probes including PET radioisotopes.
In addition to the current G4 PET/x-ray system, PerkinElmer and Sofie are announcing a new translational imaging system, the G8 PET/CT small animal imaging system. The benchtop scanner is built to enable preclinical workflows for biologists, biochemists, and pharmacologists.
The companies showcased the new systems at the recently concluded Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI) meeting in St. Louis.
